This Airport Restriction Zone policy was devised in the mid 1970’s and was amended on 2001-12-07. 

The policy states:

  1. There shall be no subdivision where vacant lots will be created within the Approach and Take-off Zones (NEF 25 to 28 and NEF 28 to 30) (NEF 30 to 35 and NEF 35 to 40);
  2. One single family house only per lot or parcel of land will be permitted in the Approach and Take-off Zones (NEF 25 to 28 and 28 to 30), (NEF 30 to 35 and NEF 35 to 40);
  3. There shall be no development within a 300m radius of the radar facility;
  4. There shall be no new development within the NEF 40 or greater, except it is associated with the Grantley Adams International Airport;
  5. Any development (building) which falls within the 300 metre and 1000 metre radius of the Radar facility will be restricted to a single storey.  Roof covering or any material used to erect means of enclosure shall be non-metallic.  The maximum allowable elevation will be determined on an individual basis based on Barbados datum; and
  6. There shall be no new development in the radar line of sight cones except it is associated with the Grantley Adams International Airport.
